Dr. Jacobs studied fine-art painting and drawing at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, one of the top three art schools in the country. As a fine-art artist, he has sold numerous works to private collectors across the country. In the commercial arts, Jacobs has worked as a concept artist, character designer, and pre-visualization artist, creating storyboards and animatics for the video-game industry and for the film industry. Jacobs has taught numerous classes on aesthetics, art history, and film, including interdisciplinary courses on the intersection between art, theology, and philosophy. He has written on the philosophy of aesthetics generally and on the views of Sir Joshua Reynolds in specific. He is a participant in the Templeton Religion Trust's "Art Seeking Understanding" program, and has appeared on Closer to Truth and PBS, discussing his philosophy of art and aesthetics. Jacobs is currently Scholar in Residence of Philosophy and Religion in the Religion in the Arts and Contemporary Culture Program based in Vanderbilt University Divinity School.
